ABB Hefei Transformer Company Limited was the first power transformer joint venture set up by ABB Group in China in 1992. The company became wholly owned by ABB in 2005. In order to achieve greater operational efficiency and synergies, the Country Management merged ABB Hefei Transformer Co., Ltd. and ABB Distribution Transformer (Hefei) into one legal entity in 2006.
Presently, ABB Hefei has become a sizeable company which hired more than 680 employees with comprehensive range of transformer products. In order to have strong focus on the different businesses, the company is organized into two product divisions: Distribution Transformer Division, Products Group Insulation & Components.
The Product Group Insulation & Components (ABB Hefei PGIC) is the independent business division within ABB Hefei Transformer Co., Ltd. as well as the manufacturing and supplying center set up by ABB group for ABB OLTC (On-load tap changer), RIP (Dry Bushing), OIP (Oil Bushing) and OTP (Oil Treatment Plant) to the markets in China, Asia and Pacific area. It has been broadly accepted by Chinese and NAS customers and has become one of the major suppliers of high quality transformer components in the region. Main Components Business covers: On Load Tap Changer; Dry Bushing; Oil Bushing; Vacuum Filtering Equipment (suitable for oil filtering 1000KV and below power transformers). With production capacity increase, ABB Hefei Product Group Insulation & Components attracts more investment from ABB group. Thus ABB Hefei Product Group Insulation & Components moved to a new factory at the end of year 2009 which occupies the area of more than 30,000m2. Today, ABB Hefei PGIC has become ABB group's largest global production center for transformer components.
