ARTESANIAS GARMAN

Home > Ecuador (589) > Imbabura > Otavalo
Artesanias Garman is a leading Ecuador exporter of Indigenous Andean crafts.

Our main products are eco-friendly tagua (vegetable ivory) jewelry, Indigenous clothing, textiles, Andean flutes, Amazon jungle balsa wood carvings, jade pendants and small gifts.

Expanding upon our extensive line of tagua products, we produce jewelry from exotic South American seeds and natural materials such as acai, visola, chocho rojo, achira, coconut shell, corozo, cabalonga, palmito, cerebrito, huayuro, acacia, matirirou, and bamboo.

We are constantly innovating and adding new jewelry designs to our catalog. We produce many custom items for our clients. Our products are exported to North America, England, Europe, Australia, and many island tourist destinations.

Our company was established in Ecuador in the year 2011. We are located in Otavalo, Ecuador, a center of Indigenous crafts, music and culture.

We contract production directly with individual Ecuadorian craftspeople, families and co-ops, working with local artists and weavers on a fair trade basis. Approximately 60 Indigenous craftspeople in Otavalo and surrounding villages make up the majority of our workforce for craft assembly. Production times for most products is one week.

Our office and management team consists of four people. Our general manager has many years prior experience in graphic design and the manufacturing and wholesaling of native Indian crafts in Canada. Our office secretary came to Ecuador from England. Both are bilingual, speaking Spanish and English.

Our products are environmentally, worker and animal friendly. Products from South American seeds are a renewable resource. Tagua in particular is a natural plant substitute for elephant ivory, and provides a much needed income for Amazonian rainforest peoples.

When the Spanish conquistadors came to Ecuador, they chained the Indigenous textile workers to the looms. The main street in Otavalo (Sucre), where our office is located was originally called "Obraje", which means "slave labor sweatshop". Now the Otavalo Indigenous own the looms.

We are committed to maintaining a free Ecuadorian lifestyle of joyful celebration through marketing high quality colorful crafts, supporting our local artisans and community improvement projects - while paying fair prices and raising the living standard of our craftspeople.

We provide high quality handmade items, with a wide range of customization options and reasonable prices. We hope to cooperate with more customers in the future and welcome all potential buyers to contact us.
