Samoro Investements Limited was established in 2003 as a wholly owned Private Limited Liability Company. It commenced operations as a premier commodity trader in Shea butter, shea nuts, groundnuts, cashew and sesame to Europe, UK, India and Japan. Since its inception in 2003, SIL has sought to, and succeeded in extending her influence to the length and breadth of Ghana. It has remained focused on her core competencies and has become First class Shea butter producer for markets in Ghana, Burkina Faso and C? Te d'Ivoire, with a capacity of 30, 000 tons. Social responsibilties. Sil with it's partner organisation (SONGTABA) a Non-Profit Organisation and International Donors, is working with the women of Ghana to help improve the marketing of shea butter so they can earn a fairer income from the produce. For centuries, the women of West Africa have worked hard to turn nuts from shea trees into butter. The butter is used to cook food, treat cuts and bruises and to protect against sunburn and dehydration. First of all Women and children harvest the fallen fruit (shea nut) in the wild savanna of West Africa. There are no plantation and therefore no pesticide or fertilizer. The shea nuts are more than organic, They are wild. . The pits are removed from the fruit and then boiled, sun-dried and roasted. Once the pits are completely dehydrated, they are hand-crushed. It takes an average of 20 hours to produce just one kilogram of butter. The shea butter production is one way these women make money in their communities, and they don't have very many ways of doing that. They heat (the pits) and strain them and it's several days' work to get the butter formed so they can take it to the market and sell it. The SONGTABA Household Food Security Project so far helped 13 women's groups in Northern Ghanaian communities set up co-operatives to negotiate fairer prices with traders. The organization, also works with the groups to train the women in business skills, helping them set up bank accounts and how to conduct their small businesses and get loans. Among themselves
