FURUTAYA SHIITAKE CO., LTD.

Established in 1897, we are a Japanese company which has over 110 years of experience in the production and marketing of dried shiitake mushrooms. In 1973, we became a joint-stock company, and we celebrated the 40th anniversary of that transition in 2014.
In Nagano Prefecture, an area known for its shiitake production, we have the largest market share, and are actively engaged in promoting dried shiitake mushrooms throughout Japan.

Shiitake mushrooms are traditionally cultivated by the natural method of growing them on withered tree logs, but nowadays they are also grown artificially in mushroom beds. Our shiitake mushrooms are 100% grown on logs by the traditional method, and of course, they are 100% produced in Japan. Log-cultivated shiitake mushrooms have an especially fine flavor, and they are a major ingredient in stocks and flavorings that are essential for traditional Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Shiitake mushrooms grown in mushroom beds are something quite different.

As our mushrooms are cultivated strictly without using any additives or pesticides, we can be confident in offering them as a natural, healthy food. Because shiitake mushrooms grown on logs are precious items that can not be produced in massive quantities, they are relatively expensive. But we want to provide them in good faith to customers who appreciate the value of genuine products, and regard them as being essential. We hope to forge cordial, long-term business relationships through our excellent products and great service, and we look forward to hearing from potential partners.

In 2010, we extended our marketing operations to Taiwan. We now have a sales agent in Taiwan (in the city of Tainan), so we will introduce our agent for sales in Taiwan.
