With the philosophy of full dedication to the nation and society, Korea Explosives Corporation, Hanwha's parent company, was founded in 1952. As the nation was mired in political turmoil and economic despair, it's extremely hard for any business to survive. The company determinedly pressed on with its firm commitment to the localization of explosive production. In 1993, it renamed itself as Hanwha Corporation and launched itself on the path to business diversification into construction, trade, machinery, pharmaceuticals, IT through a series of M&As.
