Oxford Edit provides English language editing and proofreading services for scientists and doctors who speak English as a second language (ESL).

Oxford Edit also provide translation services for English to Chinese (traditional and simplified), for Spanish to English and for various other language combinations.

Oxford Edit employs editors on a contractual basis through an extensive network of academic and publishing contacts in the UK and the USA. When an article is submitted to us we assign it to the editor who is a specialist in that subject. Your article will never be assigned to an editor who is not a specialist in your subject.

All editors at Oxford Edit fulfill the following criteria:

Native English speaker.

Ph.D., scientist or M.D. doctor with publication record in peer reviewed journals.

Extensive experience in editing gained either in academia or scientific publishing; many of our editors are retired scientists or journal editors with 40 years experience.

Proofreading is carried out by native English speakers who have graduated from British universities with English degrees.

Oxford Edit Proofreading Service: errors due to grammar, typography, spelling and punctuation are corrected without altering the structure of the sentence. This option is the one to choose when you are confident that your document is well written in the English language.

Oxord Edit Standard Edit: this edit includes a proofread followed by a copyedit directed at the language and style of your manuscript. The idea is to edit your use of language so that the text reads as if it were written by a native English speaker. This edit may involve rewriting a sentence but it does not involve rewriting entire blocks of text or rearranging paragraphs. If you are content with the structure and flow of your manuscript then our standard edit may be the option to choose.

Oxford Edit Premium Edit: this option combines a proofread, a standard edit and an additional substantive edit.

Substantive editing addresses the overall structure of the manuscript:

Does the document fit together into a coherent whole?

Is the manuscript clear in its meaning? If not, what could be done to achieve clarity?

Would the manuscript benefit from the rearrangement of blocks of text?

Are there sections which need rewriting?

Do your arguments follow a logical progression?

Is there repetition of information? Can redundant information be deleted or compressed?
