Martins Rubber Co was established in 1865 in Southampton, England during the early days of vulcanised rubber development when such goods as pneumatic tyres, rubberised protective clothing and even toy rubber daggers were sold.
The business has developed through successive generations to meet the growing demands of modern industry, although being still family-owned means that personal service really does mean just that. The company now comprises four complementary departments:
Firstly we specialise in small to medium volume high-quality thermoset rubber mouldings. Our in-house tooling facility not only enables rapid turnaround but also allows us to interact more closely with the customer during the early stages of product development. Although we have niche-market capabilities in areas such as F1 motorsport and military sub-contract manufacturing, our products are found throughout industry from sportscars to chair feet, contact lenses to canned drink manufacture.
We also manufacture polyurethane sponge mouldings in all grades from soft cold-cure, visco-elastics through to integral skinned and rigids, serving applications such as seat-foam mouldings, arm & head rests, handles, and architectural mouldings.
Our gasket facility deals with production in all the usual elastomeric sealing materials together with foams, sponges and high temparature compressed fibre. We stock a vast range of raw materials and cutting tools for production of an almost limitless range of components and fabrications.
Last but not least our specialist seal production facility offers users of site plant & equipment a huge range of after-market seal kits for most of popular machines available, with the range increasing daily. With 4 highly sophisticated CNC machines in daily operation, we can also manufacture bespoke or pattern seals up to 600mm diameter from samples usually within 24 hours.
We also stock the entire range of BS1806 and BS4518 O rings, with access to an extended range of less common sizes.
