For a two-antennas based transmitter system, there are full code rate and full diversity orthogonal space-time block codes (O-STBC). For a four-antennas based transmitter system, there are full code rate quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes (QO-STBC), but some non-zero terms on the off-diagonal of the product of the channel matrix and that for the matched filter receiver reduce the diversity gain of the code. To overcome this problem feedback methods have been introduced in [1] to provide full diversity gain, but their disadvantage is that they can be extremely hard to design and generally require high complexity encoders and decoders. In this work, iterative methods for a QO-STBC receiver, which eliminate the need for feedback to reduce these off-diagonal elements are proposed. Simulation results show that in terms of BER the proposed method outperforms open loop QO-STBCs.
